Volkswagen is one of the most famous German car trademarks in the world. It appears several times throughout the Cars and Planes franchise.

Trivia

- It is portrayed as "Volkswingon" in Planes.
- In the Cars 2005 Teaser Trailer, the majority of the crowd at the Radiator Springs Speedway is comprised of 1960 Volkswagen Type 2 buses.
- Lots of Volkswagen cars were supposed to appear in Germany in Cars 2, but the Germany scene got unproduced.
- The fictional model, Special Aphid GT, is based on a Volkswagen Bug.
- Despite not physically appearing in Cars 2, the Volkswagen Type 3 Squareback and Volkswagen Karmann Ghia were mentioned in a conversation between Mater and Holley Shiftwell.
