- Although he is a Pixar in-house design, given multiple differences, Raoul ÇaRoule's model is based on the real-life 2006 Citroën C4 WRC (World Rally Car). In the Cars universe, he is cited as the fictional 2006 Global Rally Car.
- Furthermore, early concept art as seen in The Art of Cars 2 showcases a blue 2006 Citroën C4 WRC sponsored by Vitoline. This was a precursor to Raoul ÇaRoule.
- Tomber's model, the 1968 Cargatti Trois, is a hybrid of the Reliant Regal and Citroën AMI 6.
