Deleting a page removes it from the wiki, alongside all of its respective logs. While the action itself can only be performed by an administrator, we allow any user to nominate an article for deletion. Please refer to the guidelines and process below.
Nominating an article
To nominate a given article, one must add the {{delete-request}} template at the very top of the page source. The template has one parameter, which is used to communicate the reasoning/explanation for why it's being nominated; a reason must be given. The syntax will look like this:
{{delete-request|reason}}
From here, the procedure stops or continues depending on how likely it is that the given reason will be challenged. There are a number of situations where few if any reasonable users will attest an article's deletion:
If any of these apply, a template and explanation are enough. However, in any territory beyond these most obvious cases, it's good etiquette to open a discussion on that article's respective talk page, in order to allow everyone a chance to voice their own opinions on the matter.
Opening a discussion
To open a discussion, navigate to the article's talk page, and create a new section header titled 'Deletion discussion' (or similar, so long as the purpose is easily identifiable from within the table of contents), then give your best argument for why - followed, of course, by a signature. From here, all users may offer their own insight and perspective, and if a clear opinion does not emerge, a vote by way of proposal should be held.
Final decision
Once a vote is complete:
- If the article WILL NOT be deleted: The {{delete-request}} template should be removed from the article once more.
- If the article WILL be deleted: The {{delete-request}} template should be replaced by the {{delete}} template. This will place the article in Category:Articles pending deletion, which an administrator will check and then perform.
